Program Director

Heather Vedell serves as the Program Director for Success with Honor. In this role, Heather works to identify organizations with charitable endeavors that align with Success with Honor’s core value areas: family, faith, community, arts education, and wellness.

Heather is a Penn State alumnus and is currently a Penn State student working on completing her Organizational Leadership Degree. While attending college, she learned to do things the “Penn State Way” which includes having pride, working hard, making a positive impact on the community, and making every day count. Heather became involved with Success with Honor because she believes the positive activities that Penn State students and alumni are doing in their communities has been overshadowed. She feels that Success with Honor has an incredible opportunity to increase the profile of the organizations that we partner with and will help to publicly redefine who “We Are”.

After working in the insurance industry for almost ten years, Heather decided to “retire” from her actuarial and analytics consulting position at a large global insurance brokerage to concentrate on being a mother, continuing her studies, and supporting her husband in starting a new insurance venture. She is married to Phil Vedell, an NC State alumnus and loyal Wolfpack supporter that has also become a Penn State fan. They have two future Nittany Lions, Parker and Pierce. Parker decided she wanted to go to Penn State after attending her first home football game in 2011 and finding out there was a creamery on campus. Pierce enjoys sporting his “blue team” gear and will hopefully become a tight end for the Nittany Lions. Heather and her family currently reside in Richmond, Virginia.
